CPA 101 and Blog Monetization

For those of new at monetizing our sites, I thought I would give a real brief explaination of what a CPA network is and why everyone should look into adding CPA ads as part of their monatization strategy.

So what is a CPA network, isn't it just another type of affiliate network? Well, yes and no. Like affiliate networks, CPA ad networks count on publishers like us to promote their offers. They uaually call us affiliates just like traditional networks.

Traditional affiliate networks focus on sales, however, many CPA ad networks focus on lead generation. What do I mean like that? Have you ever seen credit card offers? You can make some serious income just by getting people to inquire, put in an application and get accepted. Many of the new CPA networks give you a choice of both, payment on sales, and payment on lead generation.

Another example is on a site I just put up. If you go to it forgive the mess because I have not really started publishing a lot of articles to it yet and it is a little spammy. I am using this site to show different types of monetization techniques to my students.  This type of affiliate program is always nice to throw in the mix of your adversiting if you can find one that will work well with your site.

I am using it right now to illustrate some different types of advertising fo my clients so the site below is not a 'real' site yet. Ok, with that said, go to

www.oraclejobs.com

Ok, now for an example of a CPA. See the big computer and ad right under my post? This is a prime example of a CPA (forgot to mention, it stands for cost per action). If you click on the Ebay for Dummies ad and fill out the information to receive your 'free auction success kit' I get $12.80 per sale. You will also be prompted for a trial membership which can be cancelled at anytime. For the perspective customer it is a win-win situation and this type of ad usually does very wll. Other possibilities for CPA include credit card offers etc.

Another idea is to take advantage of sites that offer recurring income, or where you make so much every month when a person remains a member. Some hosting companies and memberships sites are good examples of this.

The point is, when you look at monetization strategies, you don't have to rely on just one thing. Throw a few things into your mix and see what works and what does not with your niche and readers. There are tons of CPA and affiliate networks out there. All you have to do to find them is a google search or look at the article I wrote last week entitled Monetizing Your Website for a list of affiliate and CPA networks. Adding one or two of these types of ads to your own products can make your site more interesting.

I hope this helps generate a few ideas.
